On Thursday, April 19, the United Nations University Office at the UN here in New York is sponsoring a conference briefing on E-Waste from 2:00 to 5:00PM. At the conference, a new public-private initiative called Solving the E-Waste Problem (“StEP”) will be introduced. Sponsors of StEP include HP and Dell, and the goals of the initiative include standardizing global recycling processes, harvesting valuable electronic components as “e-scrap,” and extending the life of e-scrap products and markets for their reuse. I’m going to make an effort to attend the briefing on the 19th and if you’re in New York, I urge you to do the same. You can register here or check out more information about StEP here.
