On Tuesday, June 24, the Green Building Initiative and Environmental Design + Construction magazine are sponsoring the first in a series of three webinars examining the various liability issues that construction and real estate industry stakeholders may confront in connection with green projects. I will be presenting on next Tuesday’s panel- titled “Risk and Liability in the Construction Industry”- and providing a general overview of potential causes of action that could be asserted against (or brought by) green project stakeholders. You can check out the full list of presenters and an overview of the series here.
The panel will open to questions from the audience afterwards and should be a terrific opportunity for dialogue about an area of the law that is still emerging. The next two sessions will examine the risk implications from various regulatory schemes and how the insurance industry is approaching green building risk mitigation; these sessions will take place on July 16 and August 27, respectively. Our overarching goal in organizing these presentations has been to simply start asking the right questions about how green building is changing the construction law landscape; the panel on Tuesday will last around 90 minutes and I hope that many of you will register to help us start moving the conversation in that very direction.
